The human species... is in an effervescent state of contradictions, in which words, those that tell history, those that misrepresent feelings, those that extol magic and the sighs of lovers..., those same words that... become dogma, become law, become powerful weapons that, like a mysterious animal, penetrate consciousness and disturb it.
Yes, it has been said... that the word is a weapon. Really it should... or better still: it’s really not such weapon. The word is the soul of the feeling.
But in seeing its effects, the being handles them in such a way... that it competes with everything with the aim of mastering it. And the word is a stiletto that can change the course of any story.
When contemplating all those means of communication that scientific technology has developed, we observe that it has been building other realities, based on words... And perhaps, in multitude of times, regardless of whether they were authentic, real, true or false...
“After all -you know?- who cares! I tell a version... and I do it with the expectation that they believe it. And so I maintain a face that allows me to develop in others an idea of my person... that can be as beneficial as possible for me.”
There is a saying, right?: Where I said "I say", I say "Isa". Where I said "I said", I said "eyes"...
We can play with words.
And say that the word is a weapon, but also say that the word is the soul of feeling. And we could add that the word is the creative soul, remembering that introduction of the Gospel of St. John, in which it is said: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, and nothing was done without its help” –this is to say, without his participation.
We also have the mythical reference of the Tower of Babel, in which a tower was built to reach the sky, and the consequence of this was a fall and a dispersion of beings, and the confusion of words and the creation of languages. This from the mythical point of view.
Be that as it may, we do not follow the same pattern as the cat or the dog: that, living generations in Shanghai and being brought to Sisante, Sisante's cats can understand it.
.- But how is it possible, if you are from Shanghai and this one is from Sisante? And they understand each other perfectly!
.- Because they are cats.
.- Ok, but why if you bring a ‘shanghaini’, and you put him with a guacho, they don’t understand anything? And they are human beings too!
We can of course say what is usually said: that each human sector that lived in a state of space, place and time, developed, based on the sounds -of birds?, or of storms?- a language that differentiated them from the rest, from others.
Why? Because of his intelligence? Was he so smart then?
It is said that there is a "language centre" in the configuration of our brain. But wouldn’t it be a universal centre? In addition, it was tried –unsuccessfully- with "Esperanto": as hope, right?; as if we were hoping we all had a language, some words to communicate, to stop cheating each other, to stop giving the impression of what we are not, to stop notifying something that is not credible... because it did not happen that way.
On the other hand, the receiver usually has his pre-conceived, pre-judicious listening level; and, consequently, the words that come to him... mmm!
The established precepts, norms, laws, customs, morals and principles, of communities, establish and propitiate that the versions shown are elusive, doubtful or… imposing, but in any case, not very transparent.
Yes. The Praying Sense calls us not to exercise the word as a weapon, but as a creative soul, as that reference in Genesis in which God, Yahweh said: "Let there be this and that...". And it was done. And he saw that it was good".
Ahhhh! Let us make of the word a sample of kindness, of joy, of solidarity, of... –as is said nowadays- "empathy". And we will not lose guarantees or personal importance due to it; on the contrary: we are going to profile ourselves transparently so that the words, the ones we emit, lead the listener, first, to listen to us. And then, to follow the origin of that word, being pronounced. And that goodness, service and enthusiasm are discovered!...
In the Praying Sense, the words that humanity has used, fundamentally through religions -very different forms, species, ways-...
It has basically used words that… how far does it go when it says: “God is infinitely good. God is infinitely fair”? What... what does he who says it and he who listens to it understand?
That it is infinitely unintelligible… impracticable.
Is it perhaps... under the point of view of the Creator Mystery, that God needs to be infinitely good? Is that perhaps that... Creation needs our opinion!...?
I think it is easy to realize, from this point of view, that human procedure, through the sound of the word, has managed to rise and exalt everything that may exist under his words -which are referenced in himself!-.
A whole act of incomparable pride.
But to the extent that we maintain trust -that is, that we set down a deposit as a guarantee of a possible alteration or deterioration of whatever- when we trust the word, we establish a link of communion that leads us to trust each other. And trust, in the sense of giving, and that they have a debt to us. And in that becoming, in that debt, feeling indebted to everything... and, consequently, giving it a sense of reward through service, through what can be provided.
Are we not, perhaps, indebted to Creation, for having presented us in this place of the Universe; of the planetary Universe...? If we inevitably compare ourselves with others who expressed, who expressed themselves in other places... where the land was infertile; where predators were numerous; where war contests were constant; where one was born hungry and died starving.
And that is happening. It is not a metaphor.
Are we in debt...?
When we feel -in the Praying Sense- indebted to Creation, for the gifts, for the ways... in which we have lived, it is not for us to feel inferior or incapable. No, no. That language of silence, of Creation, makes us feel in debt so... through our words, we will fulfil them!, on the one hand; and, on the other hand, let know that we have learned about our debt and, although we will never pay it off, it will be an incentive to show ourselves clear, express ourselves with virtue...
It seems that the Prayerful Sense demands something from us. No. There is no claim. There is... a description of who we are, there is a sample of what we do, so that we can vary, correct, change...
The silent pause gives us reasons to… re-view, re-sound, re-live in the words that represent us; that show us who we are.
The beauty that shows the mainland; the unfathomable surprise of the depths of the sea; the immeasurable force of a storm of lightning and thunder!; the vision of seeing... and perceiving the growth of a plant, of a tree, of a vegetable, without taking notice that it has grown. And although we know that it has different rhythms and frequencies, and we cannot capture it, it is impregnated with strong language; a language that does not use our words, but that profile us to pronounce them when we see the flow of a river, when we contemplate... the perfume of a flower, when we poetize about a star or a sunset...
We can say that... that the entire environment that courts us, stimulates us to put the precise words!... with all the beauty that we are able to express. Sometimes there are no words, but there are gestures, there are looks, attitudes...
Creation adorns us with these coincidences, luck, unpredictability, surprises, gifts... And we are in debt, because we have to describe them with words, in order to share and transmit experiences.
May the gift of the word, be the hallmark of being able to show our origins... and make ourselves transparent with them, with words, in order to appreciate in the other the presence of the Eternal. And, in turn, may the other appreciate it in us.
